Safety Beach Country Club November Newsletter

Outlook for 2016
Our Country Club is in reasonably good shape physically & financially following a successful year. Head groundsman Damon Quigley and his staff, plus volunteers, have got the course & surrounds looking really good and playing well. Financially, we are more viable now following sale of five blocks (3 opposite the clubhouse in CC Drive & 2 in Fairway Drive) & also due to more maintenance agreements being taken up by new residents & some now electing to pay.
Further improvements to the golf course, clubhouse, minigolf course and environs are to be made in 2016. These improvements will continue to be modest, due to budget constraints, but do make a worthwhile difference to our facilities, amenity, and for many our way of life. This attracts new residents & members, and also increases our drawing power & revenue.

Enhancement of the Minigolf Course
The Board has developed a program for improvements to the minigolf facility in 2016. The course designer is helping us prepare a work plan for a landscape contractor – to make the course more playable & enjoyable for people of all ages and encourage them to come back.
Phase 1 will provide effective borders around greens & some fairways, improve the finishing hole by joining the 2nd half of 17th to the 18th, convert the surplus 1st half of 17th to a levelled rest/viewing area, & create a compensating hole by dividing the unduly long 13th into 2 holes.

Golf Club News
Golf Club fees will increase to $110.00 FOR MEMBERS WITH A FEE OF $120.00 FOR New Members
Regeneration of the Board
Three Board members have resigned in 2015 – one has moved away, another has health issues, and the third who will be 80 next month and (while continuing to provide administrative assistance) has chosen to give way to some younger more action-oriented member. While a new member did join the Board recently, one or two further recruits would be most welcome. Board participation is worthwhile & fulfilling volunteer work and tends to be enjoyable socially.
Agapanthus
The time is approaching again when agapanthus stacks-in-bloom require removal to stop further spread of the seeds. The help of residents on the last morning of January 2016 is required. Helpers would be welcome at a BBQ at the Clubhouse afterwards.
Tennis
A group of residents and Tennis members who play Friday Mornings between 9:00am and 11:00am, are looking for new players. There is a weekly cost of $2 to cover morning tea, and tennis balls. If interested please contact David Hoppen on 59819497
Newsletters
In the New Year we will endeavour to have the Newsletters delivered via email. To do this we need to have a record of the emails for the resident of the estate and of those off estate who would like to receive the newsletter. Please contact the office to have your email added to the list. We also hope to have it available on the Country Club Website. safetybeachcountryclub.com.au
