Vale Murray Jones.
Murray Jones passed away on 22nd June 2016, aged 71 years. Murray and his wife Evlynne have been residents of Safety Beach Country Club since 2001.
Murray was involved in the difficult task of managing the finances of Mount Martha Valley Estates Ltd for approximately 15 Years, and also assisted the MMVE Board on financial and other matters.
In 2009 Murray was a key member of a team that successfully defended MMVE against legal action in the County Court. Had this action been successful, MMVE would have not been able to continue in the current state.
Over the last years, Murray’s health deteriorated, but this did not keep him, from involvement in Financial support to the MMVE Board, or his weekly trip around the golf course, followed by lunch and refreshments.
Murray will be missed by his many friends and colleagues on the Esate.
Sincere condolences to Evlynne and family.

The 2017 Pro-Am is scheduled for the 14th January, this is always a great event with Golf Professional’s from all over the world coming down to play our great course. We will be trying to once again increase our prize-money this year so if any members or local business would like to get involved please let me know.
It has been a long tough winter with my bank manager letting me know big time. If you are thinking of a new purchase please give me a chance to guide you or get you fitted by the professionals. I also have a lot of stock which I am keen to clear out.
Kind Regards Shane and Staff
Reminder that the Safety Beach GC Gala Day is coming up on Sunday the 13th November. The event is a 4 person mixed ambrose format with the cost being $80 for members and $100 for non-members. Proceeds are to be shared between ‘Clothes 4U Inc’ charity and the ladies golf to help pay for Pennant and Match Play costs this year and in 2017 so we would appreciate your support. If you need an entry form please see Shane Johnson or Linda Fredricson.
We’d love to see lots of members and friends of members playing in this event which starts at midday. There are lots of prizes up for grabs including fun holes, NTP’s plus the longest straightest drive for both male & female players. You can even get our local Pro to play your shot for you on 1 hole, providing you are prepared to pay for the privilege of course, so come along and join in the fun! There will be a BBQ on completion of your round after which the winners will be announced. If anyone is not playing golf on the day but can help in anyway please contact Shane Johnson
or Linda Fredricson’.

The Ladies Monthly Medal and first round of Club Championships had to be cancelled on Tuesday due to the weather, again! So next Tuesday will now be Monthly Medal and first round of Club Championships with the second round on the 18th October and the final round on the 8th November. We are unable to hold the final round on the 25th October as this is the second round of the Foursomes Championship which has also had to be moved because of the weather. So we need fine weather every Tuesday for the next 5 weeks as we have now run out of spare days!
Men’s Golf Club Championship
This year, the men’s championship will be held over 3 Saturdays from 8th October, 15th October, 22nd October. The event is being held earlier than previous years, to allow for Golf Course Maintenance in November.

The cost will be $10.00 per person which includes a BBQ, sausages, hamburgers, and hot chips. Every player will receive a free ticket in a raffle for a mystery prize. A booking sheet will be available in the pro-shop later this week, we need to know numbers by 5.00 PM on Wednesday the 12th for catering purposes, so your name will have to be on the sheet by then.
A darts night is planned for November, further details to follow.
