Raffle & Norm`s Ramblings

The annual interstate matches have commenced, with only one taking place in Melbourne at this stage of the season. We have a minute number of Doggies’ supporters in the golf club, and by knock-off time on Saturday we’d all heard their feeble efforts of singing the club song enough times. I suppose the Hawthorn supporters could be described as shattered, and speaking of shattering we could take the liberty of also saying that North and Swans really suffered dismal defeat by their opponents. Enough about shatter, it could get me into trouble. The biggest shock of the year came for North, which after being undefeated halfway through the season ended up winning only one of their last twelve matches. This must be some sort of record

Again our reporter has again forgotten to mention the main football match in Melbourne this weekend. Well done the Storm for progressing to the Preliminary Finals of the NRL. We wish them luck in a fortnights time at AAMI Park against whoever makes it through

After 14 mm of rain in the 48 hours up to 7.30 a.m. on Saturday, it became very obvious from the small number of players listed that the the day would be pretty quiet. Instead of being home for lunch around 1.30, I managed the excellent time of 12.30. The afternoon proved a little busier, but instead of getting home at 6.30 I shocked my wife by strolling in at 6.10. Somebody must have passed a comment to the final group of players. We had a raffle, and the first Cliffex meat tray was won by Paul Dennett, the second by Kay Sims, and the Crown Lager went to Ian Bright. He only got back from five weeks overseas a week or so ago, and already he’s back in form with raffle prizes. Another member just back from an extended holiday up north was the Bandit. Next week I will have a tale to tell about my visit to the Greasy Armpits Motor Cycle Club in my research to find out how he comes home from there with a
big increase in his handicap.
